Tavakoli

This is not a remake of May 1968, these kids are not playing at revolution like the French students did back then, they are putting their life at stake for a better Iran. Since December 7, Majid Tavakoli, prominent leader of Iranian students, is once again in the fortress of Evin, most probably subjected to physical and psychological pain. This is his third arrest and emprisonment. His CV as a dissenter and Civil Rights activist could not be more black from the viewpoint of the regime. Will it become his passport for the future, as a leader not only of the students but of the renewal of Iran? Yes, if he succeeds to stay alive. He has the courage and the determination. He is twenty-three years old and has plenty of time to survive the regime that stands like a monolith on the road to freedom. The Regime will pass, the strength of young men like Tavakoli will endure to establish a democracy which, despite the storm, exists de facto thanks to his efforts and those of his peers.


Ciò che accade in Iran non è un remake del maggio 68. Questi ragazzi non giocano alla rivoluzione come fecero gli studenti francesi allora, stanno mettendo a rischio la propria vita per un Iran migliore. Dal 7 dicembre, Majid Tavakoli, noto leader degli studenti iraniani, si trova di nuovo nella fortezza di Evin, probabilmente sottoposto a sofferenza fisica e psicologica. E’ il suo terzo arresto. Il suo CV di oppositore e di attivista dei diritti umani non potrebbe essere più nero agli occhi dei governanti del Paese. Sarà il suo passaporto per il futuro, non solo come leader studentesco ma come protagonista del rinnovo dell’Iran? Si, sempre che riesca a uscirne vivo. Possiede coraggio e determinazione. Ha ventitre anni e tutto il tempo per sopravvivere al regime che si erge come un monolito sul cammino della libertà. Passerà il regime, resteranno le giovani forze come quella di Tavakoli per stabilire una democrazia che, in Iran, pure attraversando tempeste, esiste di fatto grazie allo sforzo suo e dei suoi coetanei.
